Training our way to Verona today on what we now know is Liberation Day (the day Italy was liberated from Nazi occupation). This is a lovely small city. We skipped “town” due to holiday festivities and took a long stroll along the Adige River.

We stopped to have lunch at Salumeria Gironda for some local meats and cheeses with local soave wine. Oh and not a bad view.

Continued to stroll and later has appertivo with an eggplant alla norma bruschetta and some local lugana wine wine.

And then dinner at a husband and wife’s local Osteria for an appetizer of soft salami-type sandwiches and a trio of meatballs: spinach, cacio pepe and horse meat and a duck ragu pasta. Local, home made and delicious
