After our first day back in London, we spent the morning wandering Borough Market and the surrounding Southwark area, including a stop at Southwark Cathedral, ahead of a food tour with Eating Europe.

Old Meets New: Southwark Cathedral and The Shard

When in a city like London with such deep history, it’s always fascinating to catch a glimpse of the old and new coexisting: Southwark Cathedral and The Shard.

A Traditional Sausage Roll to Start

We met up with our group to begin the food tour of the Borough Market area. First up was, just across the street from our meeting point, a traditional sausage roll.

Deconstructed Apple Crumble

This was followed by a deconstructed apple crumble with crème anglaise, meringue, and rose petals.

Fish & Chips

Then onto one of our favorites: fish & chips. Oh, how we have missed a good British fish & chips.

A Pint at The Cider House

We paused at The Cider House for a pint of hard cider. We enjoyed it more than we thought we would.

Sticky Pudding at The Boot and Flogger

Finally, at The Boot and Flogger for sticky pudding.

Our Take

It was nice to explore this part of the city and taste its offerings with a food tour. We spent the afternoon walking it all off by heading on foot back to our hotel.
