After Bergen, we woke up as we were just entering the fjord to go into Ålesund and were greeted by a wonderful view.

Sailing Into a Postcard Port Town

We docked in this magical little port town at the entrance to the Geirangerfjord. Staggeringly clean and postcard pretty in the art nouveau style, the town was largely rebuilt following a devastating fire in 1904.

The Climb to Mount Aksla

Our main goal of the day was to hike up Mount Aksla. You can see the switchback trail up the mountain like a zipper. We climbed the 418 steps to the Fjellstua viewpoint, where we were greeted with a panoramic look over the town, the surrounding islands, and the ocean itself. Totally swoon-worthy.
