Vancouver: A Sail-In Full of Natural Beauty and a Vancouver Foodie Tour of Downtown

After Pike Place Market and a Savour Seattle Gourmet Food Tour, our next port brought us to Vancouver.

Sailing Into a City of Steel and Glass

The sail into port was something else — natural beauty giving way to a city of steel and glass. Vancouver is clean and pretty, with a well-developed waterfront filled with parks and fountains… and food.

One of the most filmed building lobbies in Vancouver for movies and televsions series.

Dim Sum at Kirin Restaurant

Of course, a food tour of downtown was the plan, this time with Vancouver Foodie Tours. We started with dim sum at Kirin Restaurant: pork and shrimp shumai, an abalone and chicken steamed bun, and sticky rice and pork with duck egg wrapped in a lotus leaf. Delicious.

British Columbia Wines and Cheese at Urban Fare

Then on to Urban Fare for some British Columbia wines, white truffle hummus, local gouda and brie, smoked salmon pâté, and a finish of dark chocolate Earl Grey truffle.

A Trio at Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar

Next up was an amazing trio at Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar: a refreshing Seaside cocktail, a heirloom tomato and burrata salad, mussel escabeche, and smoked clam chowder.

Double Dessert: Thierry and Bella Gelateria

Double dessert stops closed out the tour. First at Thierry for a black currant macaron — yum. Then to the world-award-winning Bella Gelateria for a tasting trio of dark chocolate, bing cherry, and salted caramel.

Good flavors all afternoon.
