After our first day back in London, we took a train out to the countryside for a tour of very English villages.

Meeting Friends for the Train to Moreton-in-Marsh

We met up with travel friends today and took the train out to Moreton-in-Marsh to link up with Go Cotswolds for a small group tour of the day.

Dover’s Hill: Views Over the Cotswold Hills

We started at Dover’s Hill for sweeping views over the Cotswold Hills.

Chipping Campden: The Start of the Cotswold Way

From there we moved on to visiting some of the villages, starting with Chipping Campden, which marks the start of the Cotswold Way trail.

Snowshill: A Tiny Hillside Village

Next stop was Snowshill, a tiny little hillside village.

Stow-on-the-Wold: A Market Town

Stow-on-the-Wold was larger, a nice market town with lots of local merchants and shops. We stopped for a traditional pub lunch along the way — nice, if part of a long day.

Bibury

A quick stop at the very pretty village of Bibury.

Bourton-on-the-Water: Bridges Over the Windrush

Last on our tour was Bourton-on-the-Water, where the River Windrush cuts through, with quaint bridges dotting the landscape.

Our Take

Each village had its own uniqueness to it. It was a long day, but well worth it, and we’d be interested in returning to spend more time.
