After Ronda and Mijas from Málaga, our next port of call brought us to Cartagena, Spain — a city we’d already visited twice before.

No Plans, and That Was the Point

With Cartagena being kind of the halfway point of this trip, and having been here twice already, we didn’t plan anything special for the day. Sometimes a port with no agenda is exactly what a trip needs.

Wandering the City and the Harbor

The cruise port is right in the city center, so we simply walked off the ship and wandered, getting in our five miles of steps for the day. Cartagena has a beautiful harbor on the edge of this lovely small city, and it made for an easy, pleasant backdrop to an unstructured afternoon.

A Simple Chapel That Wasn’t So Simple

Along the way, we walked by what looked like a simple chapel and popped in on a whim. Not so simple after all — what a treat. As always, we can’t pass a church without stepping inside, and this one rewarded the detour.
