Out first port of call on this cruise is Kalundborg Denmark on Zealand’s northwestern coast.  We were informed that this is an unusual stop for Holland America and that the city was prepared to welcome us!

We docked 6km from town which necessitated a shuttle bus service although some folks chose to walk it.  While sunny, it was a chilly 50 degrees with a sharp breeze so shuttle bus it was for us.  The main site you see from everywhere is the rare five-spired Church of Our Lady from the 13th century.  She is an impressive sight.

The interior is dominated by the oak carved alter which stands proudly against an otherwise simple church background.

Additionally, its grounds are lovely.

The city center is a testament to an old Harbour Town.  Lovingly preserved and charming to stroll.

It was a beautiful morning strolling through this charming Danish City.  Before we left, the local High School Marching Band gave us a concert on the dock for a good 45 minutes.  They were very good and clearly excited to play for us folks on the ship.
